We are CALLED together in Jesus to LIVE together through Jesus
Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes, (1 Corinthians 1:1)
Do you remember your parents calling you as a kid when you were out playing? I remember hearing my dad‘s voice on many different occasions calling me to come home for dinner. Interestingly, I never questioned whether I would come home, even when I was having a really good time with my friends.
That’s kind of like the call of God, the first time to salvation, as well as the countless other times once we have believed in and received the free gift of Jesus‘ life. How about you? Have you heard God call your name? Have you responded and come “home“ when he called? Do you regularly stop what you’re doing when God calls and follow him obediently?
The writer of Hebrews tells us “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Hebrews 3:15).
This is the start of our walk with Jesus, and this is how we finish it; by responding to God‘s call daily, obediently, faithfully. You see, hearing and following God’s call is where we find blessing in our lives, and how we fulfill the purpose of our lives.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (Romans 8:28-29)
Here the apostle Paul tells us, that our willingness to trust and follow God, no matter how uncertain or even dangerous his call might be, will always result in our “good” because it’s making us like “his Son.” May God strengthen our faith to believe this, so that we would live our lives like Jesus.
